Underscore Review
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
Thank you for your interest in sharing work with Underscore Review. We are open for submissions from Feb 1st - June 15th AND Aug 1st - Dec 15th of each calendar year. Submissions received outside of these time frames will NOT be considered or responded to! Scroll down to view all of our options.
Underscore Review primarily accepts submissions from artists between ages of 14 and 21. Submissions from artists over the age of 21 WILL be considered, however no more than 5 of these 'older' artists will be published each issue.
Issues are released in late January and late July of each calendar year.
Underscore will also hold a Poetry Contest for each Issue, offering a first and second place prize. First place prize is $50 and the title of Featured Youth Artist, which means work showcased on an exclusive page separate the full issue. Second place prize is $25 and work will be featured as the first poem in the issue. Poetry contests are only open to poets age 14 to 21. Please be patient as we sort through the piles of amazing work you will be sending us.

Submission Guidelines
- Simultaneous submissions are allowed
- If a submission is accepted elsewhere prior to Underscore Review’s publication, you must notify Underscore Review immediately
- Short Story and Prose pieces should be 5 pages or less. Pieces longer than 5 pages will not be considered.
- No more than 3 poems in each submission. No page limit.
- Art work or Photography should be uploaded as a .jpg document
- Poetry videos must be no longer than 3 minutes and 30 seconds in length
- Music videos must be no longer than 4 minutes and 30 seconds in length
